By the end of this decade, sovereign investment funds will control more than $10 trillion dollars and will have significant investment positions in every major financial market.

Their size and rapid growth is unparalleled in world history and has created a level of public and government anxiety that, unchecked, could inadvertently result in significant lost opportunities for all concerned.

To better accommodate this monumental change, sovereign investors, the markets, regulators and the public will all be well served in supporting sovereign investors’ efforts to operate more professionally, use more commercially understandable investment programs and for the sovereign investors to educate the markets, regulators and public about their goals, organization and operations.  

The Sovereign Investment Council (“SIC”), a non-profit trade association for sovereign investors, located in Washington, D.C., exists to help sovereign investors operate more professionally, use more commercially understandable investment programs and to educate the markets, regulators and public about the goals, organization and operations of sovereign investors.
